1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Local storage and session storage do a similar job. This policy covers all of them, as the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) require.

We use as few as we can. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't let anyone track you across other websites.

2. Essential cookies

These are needed for the site to work: to sign you in, keep your account secure and take payment. The law allows them without your consent, and you can't turn them off here. On our live site, the sign-in cookie names start with __Secure-.

better-auth.session_tokenKeeps you signed in. Set by us when you sign in.Lasts: 7 days, renewed while you use your account
better-auth.two_factorRemembers a two-step sign-in while you enter the code.Lasts: 10 minutes

cookie-consent (local storage)Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies.Lasts: Until you change it or clear it

When the sign-up security check is on, Cloudflare Turnstile runs a short check in your browser to confirm you're a person. It doesn't set cookies on our site.

3. Preferences

These remember choices you make, such as dark mode, and keep a page working as you move around your account. They stay in your browser, and we don't use them to identify you or track you.

sidebar_stateRemembers whether you opened or closed the side menu.Lasts: 7 days
theme (local storage)Remembers the light or dark appearance you chose.Lasts: Until you clear it
Table and panel layouts (local storage)Remembers the columns and panel sizes you set in your account.Lasts: Until you clear it
support-recent-screens, missing_module_reload_time (session storage)Gives the support chat the screens you just visited, and reloads the page once after we release an update.Lasts: Until you close the tab

4. Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies are optional. We ask on your first visit and set them only if you accept; until you choose, they aren't set. They tell us how many people visit and which pages they use. When you're signed in, they link your visits to your account so we can see which features customers use.

ph_<project key>_posthog (cookie, local and session storage)Set by PostHog to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site.Lasts: 1 year
__ph_opt_in_out_<project key> (local storage)Set by PostHog to record that you accepted analytics cookies.Lasts: Until you withdraw your consent

5. How to control cookies

You can accept or reject analytics cookies at any time in Cookie Settings. If you withdraw your consent, analytics stop at once and we delete their cookies and storage from your browser.

You can also delete cookies and site data, or block them, in your browser's settings. If you block essential cookies, you won't be able to sign in or buy labels.

Stripe's payment page sets its own cookies, described in Stripe's cookie policy.
